Wildrose leader Brian Jean came to Chestermere on Saturday for a meet and greet event for local candidate Leela Sharon Aheer. The event had over 400 attendees and those that came enjoyed a BBQ lunch.
Leela introduced Brian Jean and said that she was very humbled by the support shown by all of the attendees. In Brian’s speech he talked about how the support of the community was very moving and that MLA’s should strive to be as connected with their communities as Leela is.
At the event Leela signed the first public Candidate Commitment to Wildrose Party. The document is a public representation of what each Wildrose candidate was required to sign before being allowed to run. The document is in place to ensure that MLA’s are held accountable to the citizens of their ridings.
The public document said; ” I, Leela Sharon Aheer, if elected to the Provincial Legislature as a Wildrose party member, will not cross the floor to any opposing political party. I agree that I will be responsible for a $100,000 dollar penalty if I do per the details of the contract that I am bound to.”
The public document was witnessed by Wildrose Leader as well as members of the community and will be on display at Leela’s campaign office.
