On December 14th, Mayor Patricia Matthews honoured 9 year old Zoe Gottwald for her representation in the community as a War Amps Playsafe ambassador

The most beautiful souls that are doing the most good are sometimes the children in our lives. The community of Chestermere has many amazing young people within its boundaries that do remarkable things. One of these amazing children was recently recognized by Mayor Patricia Matthews.
Nine year old Zoe Gottwald is a champion with the War Amps organization after she lost her leg in a lawn mower accident when she was only four years old. At the December 14th Chestermere Council meeting, Zoe was presented with a certificate by Mayor Matthews to recognize her involvement with The War Amps and for spreading important messages in the community.
Zoe has helped spread The War Amps Playsafe message by giving presentations, participating in regional parades and appearing in public service announcements. She has also helped pass on the remembrance message to the younger generation by laying wreaths at the local Remembrance Day ceremony on behalf of The War Amps Operation Legacy.
Danita Chisholm, Executive Director, CHAMP Program with The War Amps said, “I would like to commend Mayor Matthews for recognizing Zoe Gottwald, a member of The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, at the December 14th City Council Meeting. Mayor Matthews presented Zoe with a certificate for her involvement with The War Amps and for helping to spread important messages in the community. Since losing her leg in a lawnmower accident, Zoe has helped spread The War Amps PLAYSAFE message by giving presentations, participating in regional parades and appearing in public service announcements. She has also helped pass on the remembrance message to the younger generation by laying wreaths at the local Remembrance Day ceremony on behalf of The War Amps Operation Legacy.
We are so pleased with Zoe’s well-deserved recognition by the City of Chestermere”.
If you’ve ever had the privilege of meeting young Zoe, you would know that she is truly someone special. With going through something so horrific at such a young age, of which her mom Denise says Zoe has memories of that terrible experience, her passion for life and advocating in the Playsafe initiative is something very important to this young champion.
Congratulations Zoe!
