NR - OUTDOOR SKATE

Chestermere, AB – While Chestermere winters might be long and cold, this winter we encourage all residents to go outside and enjoy the weather! One of the new ways the City is offering to do that is to skate the day away at the Chestermere Outdoor Rink. The new rink is located at the south side of the Chestermere Recreation Centre, not far from the playground.
“Parks and Recreation is excited to be able to provide Chestermere residents with the opportunity to skate and be active in our Community all winter through the creation of an outdoor rink. Chestermere is a young and active community and the City recognizes that residents seek local recreation opportunities. We are striving to make this a fun winter for all residents,” said Community Recreation Coordinator Katelyn Richards.
Whether you want to learn to skate, teach someone else, or practice your skating skills, it’s a great chance to get in some exercise and enjoy our beautiful community in the winter.
This rink is in collaboration with the Chestermere Regional Recreation Centre (CRCA). The City wanted to provide a free and accessible opportunity for the community to skate and be active. As a result, the City approached the CRCA about using their land to create this rink, the lot was a great spot for the rink with access to parking, washrooms and a concession. The City’s Community Services Department, Parks and Recreation would also like to thank the former CORA group (Chestermere Outdoor Recreation Association) for donating the rink boards and helping make this rink possible.
The rink is open during daylight hours (8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) and signage with rink rules will be posted. The rink is meant for public skating purposes only, and no shinny or sticks or pucks are allowed at this time.
Parks will maintain the rink ice surface, sitting areas and pathways to the rink. To report any maintenance issues, please call the City of Chestermere Parks at (403) 207-2807.
If you have any questions about the outdoor rink or would like see more information, please visit www.chestermere.ca/outdoorrink to view the FAQs and to see the rink rules.
