Ottawa – The Hon. Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance) and Member of Parliament (Crowfoot) is honouring Second World War Veterans from his constituency by issuing a Certificate of Recognition on behalf of the people of Crowfoot. “It is an honour for me as our MP to recognize the tremendous contributions of those who courageously defended our shared values of peace and freedom on the 75th anniversary of Canada’s participation in the Second World War. Through this tribute, we are remembering and honouring those who live in our own communities who served in this conflict with pride and appreciation.”
“It is important to their families, friends and our community. The Government of Canada has presented Second World War Veterans with a commemorative lapel pin in honour of the extraordinary role Canadians played in the Allied victory,” Minister Sorenson says.
Arthur Longair and the Honourable Nick Taylor are the local Chestermere recipients of the Certificate of Recognition.
“Over the course of my tenure as the MP for Crowfoot, I find it remarkable how often my constituents and I cite the accomplishments of this generation of Canadian military veterans. They secured the rights and freedoms we enjoy including democratically governing ourselves and living peacefully under the Rule of Law. Today, we still have these heroes living with us in our local communities. As our MP, I have the privilege of acknowledging them,” Sorenson concludes.
