This week’s article is about expectant moms, newborns, and infants. If you want to practice true preventative medicine you have to start before children are born.
Mothers play a vital role, even before they become pregnant. Modern medicine states that women should practice proper oral care before their infants are born. Reason being, high levels of harmful bacteria in the mouth can spread to the embryo. They can enter the bloodstream and enter the placenta before the embryo is sealed off from its environment. Everyone has heard the old wives tale that “I inherited bad teeth from my family”, when in fact, the truth is “my mom and family passed on their host bacteria to me.” The transfer of bacteria occurs by licking spoons, testing milk bottles, kissing, and having gum disease while expecting.
It is critical that moms consider their child’s oral health before they take steps to get pregnant. They should be cognizant of spreading bacteria from them to the infant. We need to enlighten mothers, to take these steps, plus teach and maintain proper oral healthcare. This will help children develop through to their teens and early adulthood with virtually no cavities or gum disease.
Our mission statement at Lifepath reads, ‘1 out of 3 kids born today will live to be 100′ years old. Our team is determined to educate, empower, and equip mothers with the knowledge to increase their child’s life span, through oral health. Having a healthy mouth eliminates dozens of lifespan limiting diseases that include but are not limited to diabetes and heart disease. My grandmother’s generation lived an approximate lifespan of 48 years old. Thankfully, generations have changed and education has allowed people to be more informed and aware of preventative measures to live a long life. Transferring the knowledge we have, into the homes, minds and hands of our population is a commitment our team has made.
At Lifepath, we have Expectant Mother Packages to help achieve this very concept. The kit is filled with educational information and useful tools to guide mothers through their infant’s first year, including safe medicated wipes to lower the bacteria before the baby has teeth. We are breaking down your Lifepath into chronological steps to help you through life, from embryo to senior citizen. Our next article with feature and explain more in depth, the exact features and products included in the Expectant Mother Package to help encourage you to take control of you and your child’s health.
I want to take this time to thank you for reading this article and hope that you help us foster a healthier community by spreading the word to anyone expecting or planning.
