On December 23, 2014, twenty six year old, Ivan Leto of Chestermere was arrested and charged with several drug and weapon offenses.
Turner Valley RCMP received a call in the early morning hours of December 23, reporting a suspicious vehicle parked at a local gas station, which was not open for business at the time. Upon arrival, the accused was not able to produce proper identification to authorities and was subsequently arrested.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a loaded 9mm hand gun and 140 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine. Once a search warrant was obtained, officers further searched the vehicle and discovered several knives, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $1000 in Canadian currency.
Charges include possession of a loaded restricted firearm in a vehicle, possession of a loaded restricted firearm without a license, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Leto was released on a recognizance and is expected to appear in Turner Valley Provincial Court on February 10, 2015. It could not be confirmed if Leto is known to Chestermere RCMP.
