Dear Editor,
I have read with interest the article regarding the CRCA in The Chestermere City News of August 27th, 2015.
Whilst I sympathize with Mr. Foat and his concerns I am in total agreement with RVC administration in that we, as ratepayers of RVC, are fed up with funding the CRCA to the detriment of such townships as Langdon.
In the past RVC has directed hundreds of thousands of dollars in support of the CRCA and its various activities and only thousands of dollars in support of a complex for Langdon.
RVC is correct in demanding of the CRCA allow 50% of members be RVC residents. At present we fund more than 50% of the CRCA and yet have no board members and a minimal number of users; that situation cannot be allowed to continue.
Another point of interest is that, in an effort to make ends meet the CRCA wishes to “get a fitness centre up” – has Mr. Foat given any thought to the detrimental financial impact this may have on existing business’s such as Fit on the Lake? Does Mr. Foat even care?
Further Mr. Foat continually intimates that the CRCA is for Chestermere residents with comments such as “It’s for my grandkids, the kids and grandkids of all of Chestermere”. If that is what the CRCA wants then by all means give it to them but no longer on the backs of RVC taxpayers.
Finally, for my money, I would suggest that either the existing lease period be reduced to end in 2020 or that the CRCA purchase the RVC share in the complex and charge those RVC residents who use the complex a fee for use. I want my money to go towards a complex in RVC with that complex being located in the largest population centre in RVC which is Langdon and immediate area, with a population in excess of 7,000.
