What is the longest running event in Chestermere? The Country Fair and Red Ribbon Competition! If you are new to Chestermere City or the Chestermere area, don’t miss this great event which has something for everyone. Starting Wednesday Sep 7th there is pie making for the STARS pie auction on Sept 10th at 2:30pm. Register to make a pie before Sept 2nd then call your friends and family to come out and bid. Let’s top last year’s total! Eleven am Friday Sep 9th entries are accepted for the Red Ribbon bench show–with nearly $5000 in prizes there will be something to win for everyone from Pre-school to Seniors; baking, preserves, flowers, veggies, quilting, art, crafts, photography, wine, and much more. Thanks to many generous donors, see the FB page for a preliminary list. The Parade is Saturday morning at 9:30am starting at Chestermere Lake Middle School. Contact involved@truesynergy.ca to register or for details. Enter your bike, there are prizes! At 10 am view all entries from Friday and see who won –there is over $5000 in prizes. And one of the most popular events, the Zucchini Car Races, sharp at 12 noon (races start at 12:30) in the curling rink, get your axels and wheels (free) at the library, register your zucchini and may the best car win. Red Ribbon Prize and trophy winners are announced in the curling rink at 2pm, don’t miss this if you think you might be one of the lucky winners of the 13 plus special prizes ( including Craig Lawrence Memorial LEGO, and Jane Carlyle Quilt Prize) and trophies up for grabs. And following, at 2:30 pm get your bidding hands ready to buy a pie for STARS Air Ambulance. The Red Ribbon is hoping to get the total raised over these past few years to over $10 000–you can help AND take home a delicious homemade pie.
