It’s almost that time again… the day when the paths and streets of Chestermere are transformed into a fitness freeway of runners, joggers and walkers. That’s right – it’s almost time again for the Loop Around The Lake that is taking place on Sunday June 26th for it’s eighth year.
This annual event raises funds for the Chestermere Public Library and is all to the thanks of event organizer, Bernard Maillet who set out with a goal to raise $100,000 in ten years for the library. Maillet states, “With long term goals of raising over $100,000 for the Library over the next ten years, this is hoped to be a successful, annual event. As to date we have raised $50,000 dollars, with the help from the Provincial Government and local establishments”.
On Friday June 3rd, the generous folks that run the Chestermere Bottle Depot presented a $1000 donation to Maillet. The Chestermere Bottle Depot owners, Karen and Kam Khamba have been valued supporters of our library since the beginning and have made many donations directly to the library and to events raising money for the library – such as the Loop Around the Lake.
Karen Khamba commented, “We are so happy to be able to contribute to the community and to this event”.
Loop Around the Lake organizer, Bernard Maillet, was so grateful for the generous donation. “We should all be grateful for The Chestermere Bottle Depot for their constant contribution to our city. Year after year they donate to several fundraisers in our community! I would like to thank them sincerely! The Chestermere Bottle Depot will be holding a customer appreciation on June 25th, the day before The Loop around the Lake, they will have a BBQ from 11:00am to 2pm,please go and visit them!” says Maillet.
