Give thanks for this democratic nation of Canada

A conversation with a Korean friend and 90 minutes with my grandson. Two incidents that give me reason for thanksgiving. My Korean friend told about her youth and her struggles to get herself an education. She talked of her father. She was part of his second family. He lost his first family because North Korea would not allow him back into the country after he visited South Korea. He never saw his first wife and family again, they never saw him again. Thank you, Lord, for the country that we call Canada. In this free country we will not suffer the humiliation, the poverty, the degradation and the oppression that is the norm in so many of the nations of the world. I give thanks for this democratic nation of Canada and I shudder to see how we are trying to eliminate God from our daily routine. May this country remain a Christian nation.
My grandson’s play school ended and it was my happy responsibility to pick him up and take him home. I did, but not before a stopoff at a playground and a fast food restaurant. How relaxing and exhilarating it was to watch him exhaust himself climbing over all the obstacles and playthings. I remembered when I was young enough to enjoy those things and when my kids were and when my other grandkids were.Thank you, Lord, for my family. Thank you that 3 children know You and have reverence for you. Thank you that 5 grandchildren entertain me in so many many ways.
These are incidents in my life. You have similar memories that, I hope, inspire you to give thanks to Almighty God for Canada and family.
I pray that your Thanksgiving will be warm and wonderful and I invite you to join us at Dalemead Church any Sunday morning at 1030
