Every year in April, groups across Canada take a moment to say a huge THANK YOU to the numerous volunteers that make our communities a better place to live.
As a hamlet of roughly 5000 residents, Langdon is lucky to have a large roster of volunteers willing and able to step up and lend a hand wherever it is needed.
LANGDON VOLUNTEERS:
• Protect our homes and residents in times of fire and emergency
• Patrol our streets and keep a watchful eye on our neighbourhoods
• Teach our children how to be well-rounded athletes, musicians, performers, leaders, and citizens
• Beautify our streets and public places
• Build playgrounds and recreation spaces
• Host community events like the ever-popular Langdon Days
• Provide opportunities for people to meet, connect, and have fun together
• Support our mothers, seniors, children, and families
• Teach our children how to read
• Support those struggling in times of crisis
• Many more tasks too numerous to count
Without this strong sense of community and volunteerism by its residents, Langdon would simply be a gathering of houses. Thank you to every one of you who helps make Langdon feel like extended family; like a place where you can lean on your neighbours for support.
The Langdon Community Collaborative, made up of many volunteer organizations in our community, is busy planning a volunteer appreciation breakfast in June. Please consider taking a few minutes to celebrate the volunteerism in our community with your fellow neighbours. Details on this fun event will be posted in social and print media in the next few weeks.
