Hello Chestermere! I would like to take a moment and thank all the organizers, volunteers and sponsors at the CBRE/Melcor Chestermere Stampede BBQ. What a beautiful and memorable day. I met so many of you in the line up serving hamburgers and hot dogs with my son Sehran. We had a great time meeting so many of you and listening to “Denver Daines”. I especially appreciate the volunteers that were making the burgers and hotdogs. You responded so quickly and chivalrously to a politician’s loud mouth demanding more burgers and hot dogs when we were running low on said items. They dished it right back, kept the food coming, and a great time was had by all.
As you may or may not have heard, there is has been a new appointment to the NDP Oil Sands Advisory Group. A signatory of the radical NDP Leap Manifesto (no new pipelines, an end to resource extraction, an end to free trade deals, massive tax increases, you get the picture), Tzeporah Berman has been quoted calling the oilsands Mordor, and more concerning is her discussion calling them tar sands, and calling them dirty. Why would the government appoint someone of her obvious bias? This is a province that relies heavily on the production and sale of our energy resources, a province that is suffering, that is down 100,000 jobs, that is losing competitiveness, is faced with regulatory instability, and is losing investment every minute. This is mind boggling to those of us who are trying to find ways to unify our country in prosperity. To have the money to fund programs, improve our education, and build hospitals and roads. Where is the money going to come from for that? The economy is upside down, and now the best we can do is invite a panel co-chair into our province who would prefer to see our magnificent resources stay in the ground. Please help me to understand this. We must combine resource stewardship along with environmental stewardship. They should advance side by side in a clean, prosperous province. This is the needed and required balance that is missing by having Ms. Berman on the panel. I hope I am wrong.
Finally, we at the MLA’s office are devastated over the loss of little Taliyah. I think that we were all holding our breath for the last few days hoping and praying for this sweet little girl. We all envisioned seeing her returned to her family after this terrible ordeal, but sadly, her young life has ended tragically, and now we will mourn the loss of both her and her mother. We send our love, condolences and warm hugs to her family and friends. We also send our heartfelt love to France once again as Nice faces the tragedy of so many senseless killings at the hands of a madman on Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais. It is hard to believe, and harder yet to see these situations happening over and over again all over the world. Hug your family, and your friends. Tell people you love them and stand up for what you believe in. Stay strong Alberta! As always, we love to hear from you!
