Chestermere, AB –On June 14, RBC Royal Bank Chestermere staff pitched in to help keep Chestermere Lake clean by picking up 20 bags of litter around the South Shores area. They also donated $1,000 to the City of Chestermere. This initiative was part of RBC’s Day of Service Grant Program and Blue Water Project.
“It was wonderful to see such positive volunteers come out, making a difference in the beautification of the City. It was a great partnership with RBC staff and we thank them for this important contribution,” said Donelda Laing, Director of Community Services for the City of Chestermere.
This initiative came to life from the RBC Blue Water Project. Last year, the RBC Blue Water Project donated $10,000 to the City of Chestermere to increase awareness about aquatic invasive species.
This year, RBC staff were looking for another way to get involved. The City’s Parks staff suggested that a clean-up at South Shores would be a good initiative for the eight RBC staff members.
“Many of the staff at RBC Chestermere live in Chestermere and thought why don’t we clean up our own lake so all residents and non-residents can continue to enjoy our beautiful lake,” said Alice Peng, Branch Manager at RBC Royal Bank, Chestermere Branch.
The RBC Blue Water Project is a historic, wide-ranging, 10-year global commitment to help protect the world’s most precious natural resource: fresh water.
The $1,000 donated funds will be used to support community involvement in future endeavors for the Lake.
The City of Chestermere would like to thank the RBC staff who volunteered their time in helping to keep Chestermere litter free.
