The new board and staff at the Chestermere Recreation Centre are doing everything they can to keep Chestermeres only recreation centre alive and well. Over the past few months, the rec centre has been making amazing changes, upgrades and the board, staff and supporters definitely have a spirit and a passion that will not be defeated.
One of the main goals of this new determined board has been to make themselves sustainable and with that in mind, the fundraising efforts commenced.
On Saturday April 2nd, the main hall of the Chestermere Recreation Centre was transformed into a vibrant Las Vegas casino. This sold out event had nearly 300 guests that came decked out in their Vegas Classy attire and partook in a party that did not disappoint.
Guests came ready and determined to have a fantastic evening and also open their wallets and support Chestermeres only recreation centre. After a delicious dinner that was prepared by Jed Snatic and a hardworking crew of volunteers, the live auction kicked off where over $23,000 was raised! Following that, the tables opened up and the fun money gambling began with music, drinks and an atmosphere of sexy Vegas.
One of the event organizers, Jody Nouwen, said the event was a huge success! “We just did the final tally and we are estimating $50,000 was raised at the Fun Money Casino Night Event. Proceeds from the event will go towards upgrading and enhancing the Chestermere Recreation Centre. We are thrilled that so many people stepped up to support the CRCA especially in these difficult financial times. We really appreciate all the volunteers and sponsors and we are looking forward to planning the next Big Event!”
Nouwen continued, “Special thank you’s go out to everyone on the sponsor board as well as the CRCA staff, CRCA board and the many volunteers that made this event a success! I’d also like to thank Elevate Auctions for running the Live Auction, the individuals/businesses that took part in the Live Auction, Jed Snatic and his team from Lifepath Wellness for making the fabulous meal, The Chestermere Lions Club for running the bars, Alliance Entertainment for the Casino tables, Jazzed up Events for DJing and of course The Chestermere Anchor and the Newsy Neighbor for sponsoring advertising space for the event”.
