Alberta Campers are getting some more options for late season camping this year.
To meet increasing demand for late-season camping in the province, Alberta Parks will be keeping 82 of the province’s campgrounds around the province open until the end of October.
“We’ve had another great summer, but Albertans are still eager to get out and explore our wild spaces.
“That’s why we’re making life better by extending the camping season and upgrading provincial parks,” said Minister of Environment and Parks Shannon Phillips.
Among the campgrounds staying open are Crimson Lake Campground and Moonshine Lake Campground.
Year-round comfort cabins have also been added by Alberta Parks to Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park.
The move to increase the options for late-season camping comes after a record-breaking camping season in the province this past summer.
2017 was the eighth year in a row that online camping reservations surpassed the previous year.
There was a five per cent increase in reservations at Alberta parks totaling 158,890 bookings as of Aug. 30.
Provincial campgrounds close at different times in the fall with about 259 of the province’s 274 campgrounds staying open into October.
