CHS teams have been very busy with league and invitational games and tournaments. Please note that if there is a limited or no write-up on a specific team, it is because the coach did not provide information. I will include as much information as possible on all school teams.
GOLF
Five Chesteremere High School golfers (Mason Corbiell, Jessie Rinehart, Cole Ross, Trey Zimmerman, and Jordan Hassett) participated at the Rockyview Divisional Championship on Wednesday, September 13. It was a cold, rainy, and windy day at Carstairs golf course and the team struggled against the elements. As a team, the boys placed 8th. The top individual score was Jessie Rinehart who placed 10th, with a score of 85. All 5 golfers played at the South Central Zone Championship at Turner Valley Golf Club on Thursday, September 21. SENIOR BOYS VOLLEYBALL
The Varsity boys saw their first tournament action this weekend at WH Croxford. Although the results were not what they were hoping for, the team improved greatly. Led by setter, Chazz Meszaros and power hitter Jäger Poffenroth, we look forward to a great season. Last week the Senior Boys had a bye in league play and, this week, will host George McDougall. On the weekend the Lakers will compete in the Rundle Tournament.
JV GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
It’s been a busy start to the season for the JV Girls Volleyball team. The girls came together to defeat both Bert Church and Bow Valley in the opening league season games, as well as playing in tournaments at W.H. Croxford and Strathmore High over the last two weekends. The recent games have given the team many opportunities to build their skills and work on communication on the floor. This week the team will play in a league game at George McDougall High School in Airdrie.
SENIOR GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Last week the Senior Girls defeated Bow Valley 3-2 in league play. This week they travel to Airdrie to take on the always tough George McDougall Mustangs. On the weekend the team will participate in the Western Canada Tournament, which will be a big test for this talented team.
FOOTBALL
This past Friday the Cowboys lost their league game to a very strong Springbank Phoenix squad. The team did some good things, but just not ready to compete, yet, with Springbank. This is a young Cowboys team and will improve greatly as the season progresses. This week they host Strathmore in an exhibition game, on Tuesday, and on Saturday travel to Cochrane to take on the perennially tough Cobras, the #1 team in Alberta.
GIRLS SOCCER
The Lakers have two ties, so far, in league games. This week the girls will host Springbank on Tuesday and WH Croxford on Thursday. This will be a big week for the girls and will be a factor in determining final playoff position.
