Country Fair Booklets were delivered to schools, in and around Chestermere before summer holidays began. Right now is a good time to pull out the booklet and find your age category to see what projects you would like to enter into the Red Ribbon competition this fall! You can also access a digital copy of the 2017 Country Fair Booklet by going to www.chestermereagriculturalsociety.com/country-fair or go to the Facebook Page titled Chestermere Country Fair.
Entries must be delivered to the Curling Rink Entrance Area on Friday September 8th between the hours of 11 am and 6 pm, then doors open for the Country Fair Red Ribbon Exhibition on Saturday September 9th at 10 am. There is no charge to put your entries into the Red Ribbon Exhibition, and during Fair day everyone can check out the amazing creativity of our community and see who won a ribbon.
All winning entries in the Children & Youth Section receive cash prizes; $3.00 for a Red Ribbon, $2.00 for a Blue Ribbon and $1.00 for a White Ribbon. There are also many other Special Prizes that will be awarded as well, so the more classes you put an entry into the better your chances are. Children & Youth may pick up their cash prize money at the Red Ribbon Desk in the Curling Rink starting at 11:00 am on Fair Day. All Entries & Ribbons must be collected that day between 3:30 and 5:00 pm.
The Children & Youth section is divided into Grade levels from Preschool right up to Grade 12. You can enter in your own grade level or if a class does not exist in your grade level you may enter the closest Red Ribbon Class above your grade level.
There are many different classes for each grade level to enter items into, but remember you are only allowed to enter one item into each different class.
Here are some of the many items you may be able to enter depending on your grade level; colouring, sculpture, flower arrangement, fairy/miniature garden, best dressed vegetable, decorated cupcakes, chocolate chip cookies, handmade jewellery, painting, handicrafts, drawing, LEGO model, K’NEX model, handwriting, largest – pumpkin, sunflower head or zucchini, scrapbook page, collage, recycled material birdhouse, photography, woodworking, diorama and more…
Spend some time this summer letting your imagination soar as you create some special entries for this year’s Country Fair Red Ribbon Competition. Remind your schoolmates to do so as well so that your school has a chance to receive the coveted Annual Certificate awarded to the School with the Most Entries!
