There is an exciting summer in store for residents of Southern Alberta.
July certainly starts off with a bang, with a tremendous number of Canada 150 celebrations taking place all over Bow River riding. I am lucky enough to be able to attend Canada Day events in Brooks, Rosemary, Taber, Chestermere, Strathmore, and Dalroy.
While our beautiful Canadian national parks have free admission for 2017, don’t forget the great locations in and around Bow River riding – they make perfect day trips! Be sure to check out Little Bow Lake, Lake Newell, Crawling Valley, Blackfoot Crossing, and many more.
I hope that taking part in the fantastic celebrations marking our country’s historic milestone got everyone in the spirit for even more summer fun, because there are a lot of wonderful events taking place in the region over the course of July.
Some of these can’t-miss events include the Alberta Summer Games from July 5-8th in Brooks, which will include 2500 athletes, and the Taber Pro Rodeo July 7-8th. Mossleigh is holding their Community BBQ on July 8th as well, and their Mossleigh Pancake Breakfast on the 9th. On July 10th, the Chestermere Community Association Golf Tournament is taking place.
Jumping forward to July 15th, we have Barnwell Pioneer Days and the Vulcan Show & Shine, and on July 21st don’t miss the Standard Municipal Library Golf Tournament in Bassano and the Chestermere Music Festival.
On July 22nd the Langdon Parade is being held, and the Chestermere Water Festival is taking place on the 22nd as well. July 22-23rd is Vul-Con, and the Rockyford Rodeo and Parade is on between July 28th and 31st. Finally, the Bassano Street Car Show is on July 29th. The Escape Room in Aspen Crossing opens August 1 – featuring a 1912 restored Victorian home – but I’ll save the rest of the August schedule for a future update, so stay tuned!
As you can see, the July schedule is packed with fun-filled activities. We Albertans sure know how to throw a party or two!
With so many great events coming up, featuring activities for people of all ages, there are plenty of excuses to get out and enjoy the summer weather. I can’t wait to attend numerous festivities taking place across Bow River riding this summer, and I hope to see you there!
