New Energy Efficiency program starts April 28

Eligible home improvement products qualify for rebates up to$3500

Alberta homeowners will soon be able to qualify for rebates on eligible home improvement products that are installed by selected Alberta-based contractors.
“Energy efficiency makes life more affordable for Albertans,” said Minister of Environment and Parks and Minister Responsible for the Climate Change Office Shannon Phillips.
“The Home Improvement Rebate will make a practical difference for Alberta families while supporting local contractors and helping to diversify our economy,” she said.
Starting on April 28, the Energy Efficiency Alberta program will provide rebates of up to $3,500 on home improvement products including insulation for attics, above-grade walls and basements, ENERGY STARĀ® certified tankless hot water heaters and triple glazed windows.
To qualify for the rebate, homeowners will have to us qualified contractors found on a list online at efficiencyalberta.ca. Rebates are paid to homeowners upon completing of their renovation.
The rebate is part of Energy Efficiency Alberta’s Residential Retail Products Program. The program costs $24-million and provides opportunities for Albertans to purchase energy-efficient appliances and home improvement products.
Contractors who want to be added to the list of approved contractors for the rebate program can apply online at efficiencyalberta.ca.
Before a contractor is approved they will have to complete a short training course as well as be a registered business in Alberta with liability insurance and Workers’ Compensation coverage.
