Oku Damashi sends competitors to Karate championships

On the Karate front (Oku Damashi Martial Arts) in Langdon anyway, there was a provincial qualifier last weekend in Calgary for the WKU Karate and Kickboxing circuit, we as a group from Oku Damashi led by Sensei Tammy Thankachen had 6 competitors from ages 8-11 compete for a place on team Alberta for the opportunity to compete in Montreal in June in the WKU Canadian National Championships, out of the 6 kids Kailey Lang 11, Kayden Lang 9, Talisa Cowley 10, Alison Unruh 11, Luke McWilliam 9, Emily McWilliam 8, all qualified and all Medaled 1st, 2nd or 3rd in multiple divisions. This weekend Team Oku are going to Edmonton to the compete at the WKC World Karate and Kickboxing circuit Provincial qualifier for the opportunity to compete in Ottawa as part of Team Alberta. We can let you know on Sunday how they did, going to the tournament this weekend are a group of 8 kids ages 8-14.
Last fall we had an amazing group of 6 kids make it all the way to compete at the WKC World Championships in Ireland and come home with multiple medals between them.
