The deadline is approaching for Chestermerians who want to nominate their favourite volunteer for the Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards.
The deadline for nominations is Sept. 15.
“Across the province, volunteers are giving generously of their time and talents to make life better for Albertans.
“Take the time to recognize that special volunteer in your community by nominating them for a Stars of Alberta award,” said Alberta’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Ricardo Miranda.
The Stars of Alberta award recognizes the contributions of outstanding volunteers in their communities.
The awards are intended to recognize volunteers who; exemplify community service, demonstrate initiative, leadership, and creativity, are role models for others, inspire others to volunteer, and who’s work improves the quality of life in their community.
Each year, two volunteers in each of the three categories, youth, adult, and senior, receive the award at the annual Stars of Alberta Volunteer Awards ceremony held on International Volunteer Day, Dec. 5.
Nominations can be submitted online or the nomination form can be downloaded from culturetourism.alberta.ca/stars.
Started in 2000, the awards are part of the province’s efforts to set a standard for volunteer service in Alberta.
Since its inception,109 volunteers from across Alberta have received the award.
