After an undefeated regular season in the Calgary Catholic junior high volleyball tier two league, the St. Gabriel junior high girls team found themselves in the playoffs. They cruised past their first opponents, and next found themselves against some great competitors from St. Joan of Arc School. The Guardians won in the fifth set to advance to the city final championship. This past Friday night found the SGA girls challenging an undefeated St. Bonaventure School. The play was back and forth with the Guardians winning two sets and losing two sets. The fifth game ended in a 15-11 heartbreaking loss for the Guardians as they earned silver. Although the team was disappointed with the ending, they realized the magnitude of their accomplishments in making it to the city finals. These girls played their hearts out and had the crowd energized by their great skill and fortitude. The team would like to thank their awesome spectators and Coach Pennie for her commitment to this team.
