Chestermere RCMP are investigating after the body of a male was discovered at the scene of a house fire on Lake Ere Estates June 12.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a residential fire just after 5 a.m.

The house was destroyed by the fire however firefighters managed to stop the blaze from spreading to neighbouring homes.

RCMP said in a press release that they are conducting parallel investigations with one focused on the death and a second in conjunction with Chestermere Fire Services into the cause of the fire.

The investigation is still in its preliminary stages but police report that the death is not considered to be suspicious.

An autopsy was scheduled for later in the week to determine the cause of death. Police are also working to confirm the identity of the male.
