Calgary man convicted on weapon charge

Twenty-seven-year-old Scott Brouwers from Calgary has been convicted on one count each of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Failing to Comply with a Condition of an Undertaking.

Chestermere RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz said the conviction came after a Feb. 24 incident at a licensed establishment in Chestermere.

Brouwers was arrested by RCMP after a verbal altercation with other patrons of the establishment where Brouwers flashed a firearm.

He has been sentenced to a four-month conditional sentence and a $100 victim surcharge.
