The 2018-2019 athletics season has started with a football exhibition game. Next week, once school starts, all fall sports ramp up. If you have any questions contact Athletic Director, Tanya Everson.
FOOTBALL
The Chestermere Lakers headed to Medicine Hat for an exhibition game with the McCoy Colts this past weekend and came home with a 22-7 win. While this was a game focused on teaching and evaluating, it was still a competitive affair. The Lakers had big contributions on offense from Dakota Konschuh who ran and caught the ball very well and had a touchdown on the ground. As well, Nathan Porterfield caught Jaden Hiebert’s lone touchdown pass. The defensive front played fantastic led by Kalum Konschuh and Mitch Tessemaker at linebacker. On the back end Zain Baig stepped up and made some big plays. This week the Lakers start their regular season play in Airdrie against the Bert Church Chargers. The game is Thursday at 4:00 in Airdrie. (Written by Coach Ledieu)
STANLEY CUP
Football coach, Scott Ledieu, had a special thrill last week as he attended an event where the Stanley Cup was on display.
ALUMNI ACHIEVEMENTS
If anyone ever has information on Chestermere graduates playing post-secondary athletics please let me know. I report as much as I have information on, but do not always receive information on all alumni and all sports.
