LAKERS COMPETE AT SOUTH CENTRAL ZONE BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to Jager Poffenroth on qualifying for provincials after placing second in boy’s singles at the South Central Zone Championships in Brooks, this past weekend. He worked hard throughout the day and finished with a tough battle in the gold medal game. Good luck to Jager this upcoming weekend, in Grimshaw, at the ASAA Provincial Championships. Congratulations also goes out to Stephanie Demeules and Cadence and Chazz Meszaros who placed third in their pool. Although they did not qualify for playoffs they had a great season and are to be commended for their hard work and attitude. Best of luck to Jager.
LAKERS SOCCER
The Lakers boy’s soccer team will open their season, this week, in the Rocky View League. On Tuesday they are on the road, in Airdrie, against Bert Church. On Thursday they host George McDougall at 4:15. We are all hoping for good field conditions so that the season will proceed smoothly.
LAKERS RUGBY
The rugby teams are excited about getting on the field this weekend to open their season. The girls will be busy with the Springbank tournament on Friday and the Highwood tournament on Saturday. The boys will play in the Highwood tournament, in High River on Saturday. Best of luck to both teams.
COWBOYS TRYOUTS
Congratulations to four member of the Cowboys football team who recently tried out for Football Alberta’s Senior Bowl. Although they did not get selected to play in the event, the four are to be congratulated for being invited to the tryouts. All four had outstanding senior seasons and are looking to play at the post-secondary level. Congratulations to Shaugn Boutilier, Alen Cekic, Graham Litwiller, and Reid McRuvie
