GIRLS SOCCER

It was another exciting week for the Chestermere Lakers Girls Soccer Team.  After a slow start going down 3-0 in the first 20 minute, against first place Cochrane Cobras, on Tuesday, the girls fought hard to only allow  one more goal in the remaining 70 minutes.  The final score was 4-0 for Cochrane.  On Thursday, the Lakers were back on form with precise passing and a strong defensive line.  The girls defeated Bert Church by a score of 2-0 with goals from Lindey Pribyl and Jacy Hingley. The team takes on W.H. Croxford this week, in Airdrie, before starting playoffs next week.

FOOTBALL

The Chestermere football team took on Bow Valley, in Cochrane, this past Saturday in league play. It was a tough and physical defensive game, with neither team able to mount a consistent offense. Mitchel Hides scored on a 10 yard touchdown reception from Jaden Hiebert. There were a number of injuries in the game on both sides. With 3:33 left in the 4th quarter the referees called the game because Bow Valley did not have a healthy quarterback, to finish the game. The game ended in a 7-7 tie, but Chestermere took the win as Bow Valley had to forfeit. This Thursday W.H. Croxford makes a visit to Chestermere for a league game. Game time is 6:30.
