Chestermere city council were given an update on the ongoing work for the East Acreages Area Structure Plan (ASP) project at the Oct. 1 meeting of council.
“The highlights quite simply are that there’s an open house that is scheduled and going to be undertaken with area residents on Oct. 18 from 6:30-8p.m.,” said City Planning & Development Services Manager Jeff Gibeau.
The open house will be held at city hall.
Gibeau stated that the public open house is a, “major component of the public consultation and will set direction for us to proceed with completing the drafts to bring [the ASP] back to council.”
The report to council included that a third-party consultant, Elizabeth Armitage, RPP, MCIP of Vicinia Planning & Engagement Inc., has been retained to work with city staff on the East acreages ASP and provide additional planning expertise on the complicated project.
The East Acreages ASP was prioritized by city council in 2017 after council refused the second reading of the ASP in 2015.
The East Acreages covers an area of 138 Hectares on the east side of Chestermere that was annexed by the city from Rocky View County in 2009.
