Football (Mr. Ledieu)

Lakers football was off this week. They work towards their game against W.H. Croxford in Airdrie at 4:00pm on Friday.

Varsity Boys Volleyball (Mr. Farrell)

The boys had a busy week this week. They played Wednesday evening against George McDougall and unfortunately lost in 3 sets. The team travelled to Red Deer over the weekend to play in the Hunting Hills High School tournament. The boys faced some tough competition, and didn’t necessarily get the result they hoped for, but they came together as a team and fought incredibly hard. Lots was learned over the course of the tournament and the teams is excited to keep working as they head into another tournament weekend. They play in Springbank on Wednesday evening at 6:00pm.

Varsity Girls Volleyball (Ms. Taylor)

The girls also had a busy week this week. It was a tough loss to the George McDougall Mustangs on Wednesday evening. After winning the first two sets, the momentum shifted and the Lakers were unable to win the deciding 5th set. They came up short 15-10. The team travelled with the boys’ team to Red Deer, also competing in the Hunting Hills High School tournament. Finishing 2nd in their pool defeating Lacombe, Paul Kane and Archbishop MacDonald, they faced a strong 3rd place finishing team in the cross over game. With a hard fight and perseverance, the Lakers came up short to Notre Dame 26-24 to cut the weekend short. The MVP of the weekend was Sarah Merkosky. She was fierce throughout the weekend with consistent passing, aggressive attacks and leadership. The team plays in Springbank at 7:15 on Wednesday evening and will be competing in the Falcons Classic Tournament in Okotoks this weekend.

JV Girls Volleyball (Ms. Loogman)

Last Wednesday the JV Girls Volleyball Team played a game to 5 sets against the Beiseker Bandits and clinched the win in the final set. They then continued their busy week by playing in a tournament in Calgary at Saint Francis High School. The team came a very close second place in their pool and were then defeated by Bowness High School in the crossover. The team and coaches would like to thank the parents and family members who supported the girls as well as volunteered to keep score for the games.

This week, the girls will play in Springbank on Monday night and then host to Cochrane on Wednesday at 6:00. Go Lakers!

Cross Country (Mr. Tomiak)

Congratulations to our Chestermere High School cross-country athletes who competed in zones this past week at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School in Okotoks.  Both our racers competed hard and represented our school proudly.
