Varsity Girls Basketball (Mr. Isbister)
The Sr. Girls basketball team had another busy week. They opened their first home game of the season against Springbank. After a slow start, the Lakers battled and were able to pull out a 55-36 win. Hanna Merhi and Kiah Isbister paced the Lakers in scoring with 14 and 12 points respectively. The Chestermere girls then headed down to Cardston for one of the toughest tournaments in Alberta. Unfortunately, they were overmatched in their first two games against Raymond and WR Myers out of Taber and suffered large losses. In their final game, with only 7 players available, they were able to squeak out a win against Notre Dame out of Red Deer. Unfortunately, the Lakers have lost Kiah Isbister for 4-8 weeks with a broken finger. With the holiday season around the corner, the girls are looking forward to much needed rest. Before that though, they take on W.H. Croxford at home on Tuesday and then head to Okotoks on Thursday night to play Foothills Composite in a charity exhibition game.
Varsity Boys Basketball (Mr. Ledieu)
Lakers Varsity Boys Basketball had a busy week that started Wednesday with a 5-point win over WH Croxford. WHC led the whole game and the Lakers fought and stayed alive. Tyson Kolesar Lafaut was crucial in keeping the game close early. The Lakers then played in the Saint Francis Invitational tournament over the weekend, losing to Bishop McNally and beating Forest Lawn on Friday and then losing a 2-point game to Leduc Comp in the consolation on Saturday. The Lakers look forward to hosting Bert Church on Wednesday in our first home game of the year
