Football (Mr. Ledieu)
The 2019 Lakers Football season came to an end on Saturday with the Lakers losing to the Springbank Phoenix 38-7. The Lakers played very well in the first half leading 7-6 on a Nathan Porterfield touchdown pass from Logan Bennett.
Playing in their final game as Lakers were seniors Mo Hakim, Matt Ferber, AJ Markus, Zain Baig, Nathan Porterfield, Rowan Dupuis, Dylan Lepka, Shefa Khairullah, Jacob Taffs Cory Alm, Aidan Szarka, and Connor Gellatly. We wish all 12 graduating players nothing but success going forward and hope to see them at Lakers games in the future.
Varsity Boys Volleyball (Mr. Farrell)
Playoff games will run this week with the finals on Friday. First game is against W.H. Croxford at CHS. Game time is at 7:15pm.
Varsity Girls Volleyball (Ms. Taylor)
Playoff games will also run this week for the girls with the finals on Friday. First game is against the Bert Church Chargers at 6:00pm.
Junior Girls Volleyball (Ms. Loogman)
The JV Girls Volleyball team played their final league match as well as their last tournament this week. On Monday night the Lakers were defeated by Chestermere Lake in a close game which went to five sets. They then went on to play at the John G. Diefenbaker High School tournament in Calgary. The Lakers came in 3rd in the girls pool then went on to defeat the home team for a spot in the gold medal game. The team was defeated by Crescent Heights High School and earned silver medals for the weekend. Great job Lakers! It will be a week of practices before possibly playing for a spot in the zone competition on November 15th.
