Chestermere RCMP have charged two people in relation to a stolen F350 pickup truck.
At about 3 p.m. on Feb. 1, police found a Ford F350 pickup truck that had been reported stolen out of Calgary in the Hawkmere community in Chestermere.
The investigation led police to a nearby residence where the suspects were found.
A short negotiation ensued between RCMP members and the home occupants which led to the surrender of four people into police custody.
Of those taken into custody, two men from Calgary, Jonathon Bartram, 36, and Gaige Costello, 18, have been charged and held in custody by police in connection to the stolen truck.
“These arrests were made while engaged in local crime reduction initiatives which target active property criminals in our community. Detection, prevention, and deterrence of property crimes in our community is a priority for the Chestermere RCMP,” said Chestermere RCMP Detachment Commander Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz.
Both men are scheduled to appear in Strathmore Provincial Court on Feb. 5 to face charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Resisting Arrest, and Mischief.
At the time of his arrest, Costello was also wanted on a Canada wide warrant for violating a Community Supervision Order.
The other people taken into custody have been released from police custody.
