The Chestermere Chamber of Commerce is advocating for local businesses while working with council to achieve shared goals for the community.
“I’m really excited about the direction we’re headed in. There are new directions that we’re headed in as a Chamber and there are some exciting things that are happening,” said Chestermere Chamber of Commerce President, Shannon Dean.
Adding, “I only know one gear and that’s 100 miles an hour, passionate and excited. It’s the only way I know how to operate, and as the new president I’m hoping to bring that to the chamber.”
Dean is excited about the amount of diversity of experience the Chestermere Chamber of Commerce has.
“We have people from the not-for-profit world, we have people from the education world, we have people from the technology world, we have a wide range where we’re able to draw on that. It’s really leading to some rich conversations within the chamber,” he said.
The Chestermere Chamber of Commerce members are now working to establish networking opportunities.
“We’ve heard loud and clear from members that they want to network, and they want to work with other businesses,” Dean said.
The Chestermere Chamber of Commerce is also promoting shopping local and establishing mentorship opportunities.
“During this time, shopping local is so important. We know that businesses in our community are having a tough time through no fault of their own. Everybody is having to learn how to pivot, everybody is having to learn how to do new things, businesses all over are promoting shop local, it’s so important,” Dean said.
“Listening to membership as to how the Chamber can support them. This is going to be so important for our chamber moving forward, that we’re listening to our members,” he said.
Adding, “There is some excitement on our board, we can’t wait to launch some of these things.”
The next significant step for the Chestermere Chamber of Commerce is to advocate for local businesses.
“We have some incredible businesses in Chestermere, and our job as a chamber is to really advocate for those businesses, advocate for shopping local, and working with council, finding unique ways that we can partner together,” Dean said.
Moving forward, Dean and Chestermere Chamber of Commerce members will be affectively identifying all of the businesses in Chestermere and finding ways to creatively find solutions to challenges they are facing.
“To me, that’s the boost that the Chamber needs to really get moving and be a strong representation in our community,” said Mayor Marshall Chalmers.
