On Aug. 18 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Chestermere and Strathmore RCMP attended a motor vehicle collision with minor injuries at the corner of Highway 1 and Paradise Road.
The vehicle hit a power pole and severed it. Due to the fact that the wire was live, the power company had to replace the pole and highway 1 had to be shut down in both directions for about five hours as the wire crossed the highway.
The pole was replaced, and the highway was re-opened at around 1 a.m.
