At approximately 1 p.m. on April 23 Chestermere RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Rainbow Road and Chestermere Boulevard.
The collision involved a car and a pick-up truck.
An 81-year-old female passenger of the car from Calgary was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female driver and second female passenger were transported by EMS to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The lone male driver of the pick-up truck was treated and released at the scene by EMS.
The circumstances leading up to the collision are currently under investigation. The RCMP Collision Analyst has also been called to assist with the investigation.
Emergency crews were on scene and traffic flow in the area was slow, as Southbound Rainbow Road was not accessible from west of Chestermere Boulevard.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area and to take alternate routes.
