Chestermere City Council has been negotiating with Centron for more commercial development, following the first reading of the clearwater development.
The clearwater development is expected to have retail, highway commercial, warehouse, high tech business campus, and office development, Mayor Jeff Colvin said in a Facebook post.
“Similar to Quarry Businesses Park, the design has a residential component allowing for a live-work scenario and some quicker breakeven on costs to ensure the success of the community,” Colvin said.
The development will have a pond amenity and community hall run and paid for by the Homeowners Association, along with a seniors’ component backing out onto the pond featuring walking paths.
“Centron is going to be paying for all of their infrastructures. Plus paying Chestermere offsite levies,” Colvin said.
The city is also pushing for sewer servicing to route south through the east acreages land, and around the south end of the lake heading towards Lift Station 13.
“Trying to solve the 10-year servicing issues through east acreages and help resolve the sewer Lift Station 13 situation,” Colvin said.
Adding a sports field district featuring eight baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and football fields is also a possibility in the clearwater area.
“Setting us up for a great baseball focus and supporting tournaments,” Colvin said.
