City buildings open to the public

Residents are encouraged to continue conducting business online or over the phone

On July 19, city municipal buildings, including City Hall and Community Operators building, reopened to the public after COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

People who would like to enter any municipal buildings are asked to be COVID-19 symptom-free, sanitize their hands upon entry, be screened for fever by a contactless scanner, and to continue practicing physical distancing.

Visitors can also expect to see city staff behind plexiglass shields and staff may choose to continue wearing masks when meeting with the public.

Masks are recommended for visitors in city buildings, but they are not mandatory.

The front doors of the Chestermere RCMP detachment will remain closed.

Administration staff will be in the building and service will continue but visitors are asked to call (403) 204-8777 and press “0” to speak with staff for assistance before coming to the detachment in person.

Chestermere Fire Services will also require members of the public to call (403) 272-9878 or ring the front doorbell before being admitted to the building.

Regular facility tours are expected to resume in the first week of September.

Anyone who does not need to visit a city facility in person is encouraged to continue conducting business with the city over the phone, by email, or by using online services at www.chestermere.ca.

Visitors are asked to not enter city buildings if they have any COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or difficulty breathing, they have travelled outside the country in the past 14 days, or they are a close contact of a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days.
