Over 600 families attended the annual Halloween Howler at Camp Chestermere on Oct. 30.
Throughout the afternoon there were family activities such as a glow mazes, pumpkin punishment, broomstick battles, pumpkin carving, spider race climbing, themed crafts, bouncy castles, and mini-games for children five and under.
“It went really well. People were thankful for the event and happy to be able to come and participate in something again during the pandemic,” said Camp Chestermere Executive Director, Shannon Dean.
Camp Chestermere partnered with local organizations including Synergy who provided volunteers, Stepping Stones to Mental Health who hosted Spooky Yoga, the Re/Max Key who served popcorn, and Macaroni Kid who had a Trunk or Treat.
“We had a lot of great feedback from the community. It’s been really tough during the pandemic to not do the things we normally do, so to have an event like this for the community was very good, and we heard from the public that they were very appreciative that we pulled it off,” Dean said.
Dean is thankful of the support of volunteers, and the work the year-round Camp Chestermere staff did to ensure the Halloween Howler could happen this year.
“We had so many people from the community come out and attend. At Camp Chestermere, we want to be a gift to the community, and it was nice to be able to do that,” Dean said.
