A coalition representing the health, education, recreation, faith, social services, voluntary, business and government sectors came together last fall in response to the tragic suicide of a local youth. After several structured conversations, regarding youth aggression and safety, a partnership was formed with the intention of making a difference in the way our adult community responds to these concerning matters.
The Chestermere Community Coalition is grateful to have been awarded a Canadian Mental Health Association – Rural Mental Health Project grant in the amount of $30,000 to undertake a survey. We are seeking an additional $10,000 to ensure that our research is comprehensive. The Coalition has submitted Requests for Proposals to qualified Survey Design Consultants with a closing date of May 7, 2021.
Youth and Youth Serving Professionals will be widely surveyed to ascertain their concerns regarding personal safety, what they believe would make their community more secure and what support they need to become more resilient. The survey results will be shared with local decision makers and the public, along with actionable recommendations for positive change by the end of 2021.
Please feel free to contact us at 403-212-0242 ext. 1 with questions regarding this study or to donate toward the survey project. The Chestermere Community Coalition sincerely appreciates our funding partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association – Rural Mental Health Project.
