On Aug. 16 at 4:13 p.m., the Strathmore RCMP were called to a collision between two trucks on Highway 22x and RR 280.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a ¾ ton truck heading westbound on Highway 22x was attempting to pass two semi-trucks when it hit an eastbound pickup truck.
The 46-year-old male driver of the eastbound pickup truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 54-year-old male passenger of the pick-up truck was airlifted by STARS to a Calgary hospital with serious injuries.
The 16-year-old male passenger of the pick-up truck was taken by ground ambulance to a Calgary hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the westbound ¾ ton truck was a 37-year-old male and was the lone occupant. He was transported to a Calgary hospital by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Langdon Fire Department responded to the collision, the RCMP Collision Analyst also attended the scene, and the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team are assisting with the investigation.
All factors that may have contributed to the collision are currently under investigation.
