RCMP asking for public’s assistance in locating suspect involved in assault and attempted theft
On Jan. 23, a female suspect entered Safeway and started selecting items, and tried to leave the store without paying for the items.

She was seen by witnesses getting into a Black Jeep Cherokee.
The officer did not sustain any injuries during the altercation.
The Chestermere RCMP responded to the incident and during their patrols were unable to locate the suspect or the vehicle.
Anyone who has any information or is able to identity the female suspect is asked to call the RCMP at 403-204-8777.

Suspicious male reported seeking unlocked vehicles in Parkmere
On Jan. 26, between 1 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., a male suspect was captured on a home surveillance video checking vehicle handles in the Parkmere area of Chestermere.
A concerned citizen had saw the male later that day when they were reviewing their home surveillance system and reported it to the Chestermere RCMP.
“We are very fortunate that the families and residents in this area of Chestermere are very diligent and vigilant in the securing of their vehicles and homes,” said Sgt. Joe Stubbs. “Reducing thefts in an area helps keep insurance premiums down, which is a positive for all residents. This is one reason we at the Chestermere RCMP are advocating for homeowners to install surveillance systems for their homes and register with the CAPTURE program, as a general deterrence to would be offenders.”
Residents encouraged to report possible impaired drivers
On Jan. 29, at about 12:30 a.m., a 28-year-old male from Calgary was driving a Toyota Corolla in the 900 block of West Chestermere Dr when he lost control, stuck two other vehicles, and eventually came to rest after crashing into a garage of a West Chestermere Dr home.
The male driver required the assistance of Chestermere Fire to be removed from the vehicle and was transferred to a Calgary hospital by an Alberta Health Ambulance.
The driver had their licence suspended at the scene for impaired driving under the Provincial Immediate Road Sanctions legislation and the vehicle was seized.
“Impaired driving can happen at any time, at any location. The Chestermere RCMP utilize an Enhanced Road Safety program to increase the police presence in the community to further the effort to try and deter impaired drivers from using the streets and roads in our community,” Sgt. Joe Stubbs said.
When members of the public have concerns about a possible impaired driver, they are encouraged to call the Chestermere RCMP Complaint line at 403-204-8900, which is a direct link to the dispatchers who will send a police car for any non-emergency situations.
“We would like to be everywhere all the time but that is not a reality. We need the support and assistance from our concerned residents to help with impaired driving investigations,” Stubbs said.
RCMP reminding residents to secure vehicles to reduce crimes of opportunity
Between Jan. 26 and Jan. 28, two separate residents in the new Chelsea area reported their unsecured vehicles were entered and wallets stolen.
The Chestermere RCMP would like to reminder all residents to not leave items of value unsecured in their vehicles and when there is not option to not leave the items in plain view.
