The suspects were linked to a robbery in Calgary the day before.

On March 8, two female suspects involved in last weekend’s armed robbery at a local pharmacy were arrested.

On March 5, at approximately 8:50 a.m., two suspects entered a pharmacy and approached a staff member with a firearm demanding prescription pharmaceuticals. They fled before obtaining the items, but before fleeing the store, an altercation happened with staff resulting in one staff member suffering minor physical injuries, an RCMP media release said.

On Tuesday, from tips from the public in relation to the release of store surveillance images of the suspects, the Calgary Police Service Robbery Unit arrested two female youths, one 16-years-old and one 17-years-old in connection to this incident as well as an incident in Calgary.

On March 4, the two suspects entered the Shoppers Drug Mart located on Sage Valley Common, NW, Calgary. One female brandished a weapon and attempted to rob the pharmacist of prescription drugs while the other female acted as a lookout.

Both accused have been jointly charged in relation to the Chestermere incident with robbery with a firearm, possession of a firearm, disguise with intent, and assault. The same youth have been charged with robbery with a firearm, and disguise with intent for the Calgary incident.

The 16-year-old accused has also been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

After a judicial hearing, both accused were released on cash bail with conditions. They are both scheduled to appear in Strathmore Provincial Youth Court in April.

The identities of the two female youth cannot be shared in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
