On Tuesday April 23 Whitecappers members and interested members of the public enjoyed a Social hosted by the Rotary Club of Chestermere. Rotarians were on hand to discuss the many worthwhile projects supported by Rotary here in the community and internationally. The Family Bike Park, the Lifejacket Station, and the Edible Forest and Bee Garden are visible examples of Rotary’s contribution to Chestermere. Behind the scenes, many local organizations like the Food Bank and Chestermere Therapy Dogs have benefitted from Rotary support. The Whitecappers Quilting Group has been generously supported by Rotary in their mission to provide quilts and knitted goods to children and adults in need.
Founded in 1905 in Chicago, Rotary enters its 119th year with over 1.2 million members in over 35,000 clubs around the world. Disaster relief, providing clean water and sanitation, and eradication of polio are just some of the areas where Rotary International makes a difference. Over 90% of every dollar raised by Rotary goes directly to programs, earning them Charity Navigator’s highest 4 Star rating.
