Synergy Connects is launching an innovative initiative to support Langdon and Chestermere’s youth in navigating the complex world of scholarship applications. The organization is hosting its inaugural Youth Scholarship Application Workshop at the Qualico Resource Centre in Langdon on Wednesday, March 19, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
With tuition fees on a steady rise, securing financial aid through scholarships has become more critical than ever for students. The workshop targets young individuals aged 13 to 17, providing them with essential tools to search for scholarships, compile portfolios, and refine their application strategies. The event comes at a pivotal time as families seek to ease the financial burden of higher education through proactive planning and community support.
Terry Gill, manager of the leadership team at Synergy Connects, explained the motivation behind launching the workshop. “Many volunteers have been struggling with scholarship applications, and we’re seeing that need grow,” he said. “This workshop is designed to empower our youth by not only teaching them how to apply but also by highlighting the unique scholarships available to those with community leadership and involvement.”
The session will cover various aspects of the application process, including student loan guidance, deadline planning, and tips for obtaining strong reference letters. Gill stressed that many scholarships have niche criteria, meaning that fewer students apply and those with distinct talents or interests can stand out. “Even a small effort in applying can yield significant returns,” he noted, comparing the time invested to earning substantial financial rewards.
This free workshop requires no registration, ensuring that all interested students have an equal opportunity to benefit from expert advice and hands-on support. As Chestermere continues to foster a spirit of community engagement and educational excellence, initiatives like this underscore the city’s commitment to empowering its young residents for a brighter, more secure future.
